MARTHA M. HERNIK, 92, of Vero Beach died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at Indian River Estates Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 17, 1914 in Cleveland and moved to Vero Beach in 1991 from Parma Hts. Martha married Nick Her-nik on Oct. 10, 1934. She and her husband own-ed and operated Hernik's Tavern in Parma Hts. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Cleveland. Martha loved animals, especially dogs, she loved children and was called "Nanny" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha was also a caretaker and took many people into her home. Suviving are her daughter, Constance A. Rebar (Donald M.) of Vero Beach, FL; grandson, Peter D. Rebar (Jolene) of Strongsville; granddaughter, Betsy Rebar Sell of Bath, OH; great grandchildren, Nicholas Rebar Sell, Trevor Rebar Sell, Michael Rebar and Hannah E. Re-bar. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Nick in 1996. A private graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m., Oct. 19, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Park, N. Olmsted with the Rev. Dr. Wendell Brooker of United Church of Christ, Vermilion officiating. There will be a memorial service for Martha held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 at Indian River Estates West with Chaplain William Mead, Indian River Estates officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Martha, may be made to Willow Brook Court at Indian River Estates, 2200 Indian Creek Blvd. West, Vero Beach, FL, 32966 or a charity of your choice.
