Vinko Zalac, (71) of Wickliffe, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1945 in Croatia. He worked for Enterprise Welding for 15 years. He was a dedicated, hard worker. He was very handy and able to fix almost anything. He always put his family first and loved them dearly. Vinko is survived by his loving wife, Dragica; his dearest daughters Helen Cindric (Milan) and Barbara Katic (Mile); his cherished grandchildren: Gabriella and Nicholas Cindric, Martina and Luka Katic; his siblings: Ive (Marica) Zalac, Jelena (Ivica) Opat, Milan (Ivanka) Zalac, and Zvonko "Braco" and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Pave and Bare (Kalic) Zalac. She was originally from Cleveland where she spent most of her life. Kenneth R. Hrnyak, 79, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2016 after a short illness. His wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” (nee Piquette) was by his side on his passing. He is also survived by his children: Kenneth, Max Kevin, Keith, and Jacqueline Bertolette (Todd) and grandchildren: Sebastian, Skylar and Trent Bertolette. Kenny served in the Army and was a Life Member of VFW Post 3863 in Eastlake. He served over 40 years as a Journeyman Wireman with IBEW Local 38 in Cleveland. For many years he was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America. Kenny will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio with private services. Djurdja Martinovic, 75 years young, born April 13, 1940 has passed away on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016. She was a woman who passionately loved her family and life! Daughter of the deceased Franjo and Katarina Pongrac of Donji Mihaljevec, Croatia. Djurdja was named after the flower Djurdjica (“Lilly of the Valley”). She was a woman full of zest for life, determined to do things on her own terms, and never afraid to speak her mind all while being able to make a room full of people laugh. Her garden was her sanctuary and it showed. Djurdja was an amazing woman and beloved mother of daughter Natalia Martinovic, grandmother of her three grandchildren; Alexander, Adrian, and Avamaria, wife of Ivan Martinovic (deceased 1/1/93), sister of Marija Pongrac (deceased), and sister to Stjepan Pongrac. She will be dearly missed, but her spark and love for family and life will live on forever. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Croatian Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 27, 10:00 a.m. Family will receive friends prior to the Mass at 9:30.
